Passage: 1 Samuel 15:1-26
Way back in the Old Testament, God sent the prophet Samuel to King Saul with a very specific set of instructions. Like any of us, Saul had the freedom to obey the instructions or disobey. So what did he choose? He chose to obey... some of the instructions. Caving to the pressure of men, Saul second-guessed God and set in motion a complicated series of events that eventually cost him the throne. Obedience would have been less popular with his troops, but it turns out that it's much more simple - and obedience always brings peace with God. So it comes down to this question: Will you give yourself away to the simplicity of obedience, or to the complexity and heartbreak of disobedience?
